The perfect addition to any star trek costume! Lights up 2 colors and has different classic trek sounds. This was the best price I've seen and its adorable and perfectly obnoxious at parties/cons. ;) There were actually some cool facts in the mini book included as well.

Be aware that this is not a 1:1 full size replica. It's close. I would say it's approximately 2/3 size and noticeably smaller than the real one. Can't beat it for the price.PROS- Looks, colors and textures like the original. Moire pattern disk, although stationary, gives the illusion of movement when you view it from different angles. The three LED gems (blue, red, blue) light up when buttons are pressed. Two buttons-two sounds. The button on left sounds the original chirping sound while the button on the right sounds a combination of static and radar-like beacon. The texture of the black plastic is bumpy like the original. And finally the price can't be beat when compared with other alternatives.CONS- NOT 1:1 - It's slightly smaller than the original at about 2/3 the size. All Plastic. The brass colored flip cover does not "flip" - you must physically open it with your other hand or use your finger on the hinge. Does not chirp when opened like the original - The left button does the chirp. It's also very light because of all plastic construction.Given its shortcomings I still rated it 4 stars because it's a decent replica and you can't beat the price when compared to others. It comes with a tiny 3"x2.5" booklet with full color photos from TOS and some useful information. Both communicator and booklet come in a full-color 3.5"x3"x1 7/8" box.

Amazing little replica!! Keep in mind this is not the same size as Diamond Select or other companies. It's about an inch smaller and does not flick up when opened but it does open and has lights and sounds...including the classic chirp! Its very well done, the material itself being all plastic. Center circle does not spin as does the diamond select one. All in all, its a really neat little prop and a great collectors item, especially if you wanna take it cosplaying!

Wow! Highly impressed with this little communicator. As advertised, it's a miniature but can still be held in the palm and opened easily. The lights and sounds make this piece stand out and would work as a decent film prop. You simply can't beat the price for the quality of this piece. Purchase this with the Star Trek Classic Phaser Gun, give it a paint job and you're TOS collection is off to a great start!

I work in the health care field, so my audience was diverse. But hardly a person passed by my desk on Halloween when I wore my Star Trek costume, that didn’t stop to play with communicator. The sounds are dead on and take you there, to complete the costume. Everyone smiled and recognized what it was without prompting. I’m smiling now, just thinking about how fun it was to surprise patients, and play with it all day!

jlkjlkjasdYes, it's small, but it's well done and the sound clips are quite authentic. Also, had the recent experience of accidentally running this thing through a full wash and dry cycle as it was left in a jeans pocket. It of course no longer worked, but thought I'd try taking it part to clean it up and let it dry. I was amazed to find that it was back to normal operating spec upon reassembly :)

Great detail for small replica but seems not to far off for size....

It is tiny and you have to be super careful with the grill part, but it looks just like the communicators in the original series and makes the noises that the communicators did as well.For the price, I certainly can't complain! My dad loved it!
